The 3 Wagon Wheels I ordered were a huge success and lasted only minutes before be devoured. I went out to Frenchies in Newport Beach off of The too good to go out and oh my God they gave me such good stuff and the lady said I wouldn’t regret having driven from Garden Grove to Newport Beach and she was right for the amount that I paid our received such a great variety of muffins and cookies , Cheesecake, pastry, and apple pastry that was just so good. Looking forward to going to the Frenchies closer to home.
32+ YRS ago, my work used to get the wagon wheels (cream cheese/fruit coffee cake/giant danish) for meetings. They're STILL HERE & JUST as delish!!! My mom & dad had me pick up some bear claws before I visited them an hour away. They remembered them from years before, also! I arrived when they opened @ 7a, to be sure they still had bear claws, as they're one of the most popular items. I bought 2 cream cheese danishes.. .mmmmmmm!!! I'd pay extra if I could get them to put DOUBLE cream cheese on a wagon wheel! Next time!! Get there early, or call ahead & place an order. They close @ 3p. Pop
Celebrating a co-worker's birthday, we stopped at French's Bakery in Costa Mesa to pick up a cake for a surprise birthday party. The staff took care of me, making sure the cake was ready to go and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. They have a wide selection to choose from and if you have enough time, you can have custom cakes made. Great prices. Definitely will use again.
We ordered a birthday cake and they did a beautiful job! The service was wonderful and they had our cake ready when we picked it up. It was also delicious! We had the vanilla cake with buttercream and it reminded me sooo much of my favorite Florida cakes from Publix—iykyk! Thank you for the wonderful cake and smash cake! My little one loved it!
They used to offer a uniquely special omelet cheese bread with a jalapeño option as a daily option and it would sell out every day. Now it is just special order but it is worth the trip and the special order. Enough so that when I travel from out of state, I schedule time nearly every trip to get to French's after calling a day in advance for the cheese bread, extra cheesy. It is about $7 a loaf and well worth it. Imagine a firm, pillowy textured bread with strong veins if golden cheddar mixed throughout a moist egg based dough. The mouth feel is excellent and the cheesy, slightly salty taste results in a total loaf being consumed as a meal substitute. Very hard to put down. Almost as if a deliciously cheesy quiche morphed into a loaf of bread. French's was hit hard by covid and had to consolidate some stores. I worry some day it will no longer be around, similar to the classic Claim Jumper of old (bought out and commercialized elsewhere into a shell of its former self). This is a bread that a cheese monger or bread lover should try before you die. Other than that, French's has a large variety of baked treats, bread and they make excellent custom cakes. It might remind you of an actual French bakery you might encounter in Saint Germain. Trust me and treat yourself to this delicacy, a treat I haven't encountered anywhere else.
Love French's Bakery. I walked in at 4:30pm to get a last minute birthday cake, expecting to have very few to choose from at that hour, but the case was full of a wide variety of beautiful cakes. Have been many times and I'm never disappointed! They're the best.
Just happened into this fabulous Bakery!! Oh my goodness!! I wanted one of everything!! Not only did it look so good, but it tasted awesome also!! The tables outside were nice to sit at. I would definitely come back!
After fasting for my early morning blood test I make a tradition to grab a coffee and crasont nextdoor at the bakery. So good! I have also ordered a special occasion cake that was the best I've ever had from here. If you like fresh bakeries this is the place to be.
This was my first time actually coming into French’s Bakery, though I was already a fan after coworkers brought some of their cakes into the office. I stopped by to pick up a birthday cake for my niece, and I was so impressed! They have a huge selection of cakes in all different sizes, and everything is very reasonably priced. Beyond the beautiful cakes, their display cases are packed with a tempting variety of cookies and other pastries that look amazing. The staff was incredibly nice, welcoming, and friendly from the moment I walked in. It’s always a great feeling to get excellent customer service alongside high-quality treats. I’ll definitely be back for future celebrations and highly recommend them to anyone in the Costa Mesa area looking for an excellent local bakery!
